If you commute into New York or work in Short Hills, the hardest part of the day to plan is usually not the classroom. It is the two or three hours between school dismissal and the moment you are actually home. We built our afternoon around exactly that gap: we handle the school pickup and the hours in between, and on the way home you walk over from the station and collect your child.
What is already close
Our center is at 374 Millburn Avenue, a community academy for art and academics: math, reading and writing, art, robotics, public speaking, competition prep, and more. Measured on Google Maps, Millburn train station is a 7-minute, 0.3-mile walk from our door, mostly flat. Millburn High School, Washington School, and Millburn Middle School are each 7 to 8 minutes away, also about 0.3 mile, also flat.
Millburn station sits on NJ Transit's Morristown Line and Gladstone Branch, with trains to New York Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal. Short Hills station, one stop west on the same line, is farther: about 25 minutes on foot, 1.1 miles from the center. That one is more of a drive than a walk, but it is the next stop down the line.
What the afternoon looks like
For a child on the new bus route, the afternoon runs like this:
- Dismissal at Glenwood, Deerfield, Hartshorn, South Mountain, or Wyoming, around 3:15 PM.
- A Beyond Young staff member meets your child at school and rides the bus with them.
- The bus brings your child to our center at 374 Millburn Avenue. It is one-way, school to center.
- A healthy snack, included in tuition. There is nothing to send from home.
- Class.
- Your train pulls into Millburn station, and it is a 7-minute walk over to pick up.
Washington School, Millburn Middle School, and Millburn High School are each that same 7- to 8-minute walk from our center. The bus covers only the five elementary schools.
Three things to know
- The bus. New for Fall 2026/27: one afternoon route each weekday, picking up at five Millburn elementary schools. Pricing is flat by days per week, from $440 a year for one day to $2,100 a year for five, paid in full, with no separate registration fee. Register for the bus, or read how the route works.
- The snack. Included in tuition for children who arrive after school. Nothing to send from home.
- The tryout. One full session with the teacher and the class, for $35. If your family enrolls afterward, that $35 counts toward the first month.
